Ed Walsh has been coaching college hockey for the past fourteen years and is currently in his 5
th year as an Assistant Coach at Division I, Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. Previously, he was an Assistant Coach at New England College where his team won the 2001 ECAC Championship. He was also an Assistant Coach at Division I - University of Massachusetts-Lowell for eight years. During his tenure, the Riverhawks progressed to the Hockey East Final Four for 6 of the 8 years, the NCAA semi-finals and NCAA Final Eight twice. Ed was also a member of the U-Mass Lowell Coaching Staff voted to receive the 1996 National Coaching Staff of the Year Award from the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Ed acts as a consultant to many professional players from the East Coast Hockey League to the NHL. In addition, he runs Power Skating and Goaltending training sessions throughout the hockey season for various youth hockey and metro programs. He is actively involved in USA Hockey’s Team New England, at USA Hockey Development Camps and performs lectures throughout the country on goaltending.
Ed and his Staff have worked with students from the ages of 5 thru professional and many of his students have progressed to the professional ranks. The Ed Walsh Hockey Schools has become synonymous with quality training across the United States, Canada and as far north as Alaska.
Jimi St. John:Jimi has previously played for the Toledo Storm and Arkansas RiverBlades in the ECHL. He played 4 years at Division 1 U-Mass Lowell. Previous to college, he played Junior Hockey for the Victoria Salsa of the British Columbia Hockey League, where he won Rookie of the Year, MVP, Top Goaltender and several other awards. Jimi has also worked at USA Hockey’s Under 14 Development Camp. This is Jimi’s 7
th year coaching at the Ed Walsh Hockey Schools and is currently our Director of Coaches.
Mike Correia: Mike Correia is a native of Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Correia was the starting goaltender for Avon's Varsity hockey team and a member of the USA National select 17 hockey team. From 1996 to 1999 Correia was a net minder for the Boston College Eagles. He was a member of the 1997-98 Eagles squad that captured the Hockey East Championship and finished as national runner-up for the (NCAA) champion. From 2000 to 2003 Correia has played professional hockey for various professional minor hockey teams. He was most recently a member of the 2002-2003 Orlando Seals that won the ACHL Championship Presidents Cup. In his last professional hockey season, Correia posted an impressive .904 save average and a 2.65 GAA.
Rick Pitta: Rick was previously the Head Coach of the Williams Lake TimberWolves, BCHL, Canada. He was formally the director of Coaches for the Anchorage Hockey Association in Anchorage, Alaska, Assistant Coach at the Division I - University of Alaska – Anchorage. He was also a Scout and Supervisor of the Select 16 camps of USA Hockey in Anchorage, Alaska. This is Rick’s 13
th year coaching at the Ed Walsh Hockey Schools.
Mark Ostapina: Mark is currently in his 5
th year as Head Coach at Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Previously, he was the Head Coach at New England College in Henniker, NH, for 6 years and in 2001 won the ECAC Division III Championship. He was also an Assistant Coach at the University of Massachusetts - Lowell, a former European professional and Coach. He has 27 years of hockey school experience and 15 years of coaching at Division I College Hockey. Mark has also worked at USA Hockey select development camps, training some of the best players in the United States. He has also worked with the Russian goaltender Tretiak. This is Mark’s 15
th year coaching at the Ed Walsh Hockey Schools.
