For Offensive and Defensive Players…
Our Goal… by combining the natural ability of the hockey player with intense individual skills training, our objective is to enhance and refine the skills of the student to create a well-rounded hockey player.
The "Ten Minutes of Terror" has quickly become a favorite of both parents and students of the Ed Walsh Schools. Designed to test the skills and endurance of any age or caliber of player!
We've designed the ultimate obstacle course where you will be challenged like never before. You will jump, dive, roll, spin crawl and that's just the beginning!
Our Class Size - 30 Students Maximum with a 3:1 Average Ratio of Players to Coaches.
Power Skating - Skating is the most important fundamental of hockey. We have designed special drills to help improve balance, stance, stride, power and usage of all four edges of the blades. Power Skating develops leg muscles and increases individual stamina, which are needed in the game of hockey.
Individual Skills - Through intensive personal training, the student learns fundamentals such as stick handling, shooting, passing and checking. Because of our low student to coach ratio, we are able to provide individual attention based on the students needs.
Checking - Checking is taught to Pee Wees and up. We feel that it is vital younger students learn the proper techniques of checking. We start with center of gravity, weight distribution and body control. Moving on to absorbing and delivering a check. This process ensures that the transition to the hitting level of hockey a smooth and natural progression. To accomplish this we will dedicate one station daily to all aspects of checking. This ensures the student learns to use their body effectively without risk or injury. It is also a lot of fun!
Off-Ice Training - There will be ˝ hour off-ice training daily doing stretching, calisthenics, running plyometrics.
Video Analyzation Seminar -
The school makes use of video taping of players to enhance and critique progressions. The students and parents are able to visualize and review strengths and weaknesses.
Parent Participation/Education - We ask that all parents join us in our seminars such as "Playing it Safe" - Understanding equipment and how it relates to the safety of your child.
