Intensive Personalized Training For Goaltenders |
|
Goaltending Concentration - At a young age it is very important to learn good habits and methods in order to enhance concentration levels. My staff and I have assembled multiple drills to focus enhancing these skills. In the assignment of groups, every attempt is made to match players of comparable skills. In this manner each group is at the same level and s able to feed off of each other's accomplishments during drills.
Class Size - 25 Goaltenders per Class with a 3:1 Average Ratio of Players to Coaches on ice to insure Individualized Training.
Lower Body/ Skate Control - We believe goaltending starts from the ground up. In order to excel in goaltending you must have good lower body control. We help the goaltender find their center of gravity thus enabling their legs and feet to react in any situation.
Upper Body/ Hand Control - The upper body consists of quick hands, good body positioning and strong stick control. To achieve this we use multiple skills. These drills Key in on quickness, reflexes, and crouch. The use of both on ice and off ice drills are essential.
Skating - There is a myth in hockey that the goaltender does not need to be a good skater. Contrary of this, the goaltender needs to be one of the best skaters. Therefore, goaltenders will be trained in power skating, over speed training, edge work, and agility.
Off-Ice Training - There will be ½ hour of off-ice training daily doing stretching, calisthenics, running and plyometrics.
Video Analyzation Seminar - The school makes use of video taping of players to enhance and critique progressions. The students and parents are able to visualize and review strengths and weaknesses.
Parent Participation/Education - We ask that all parents join us in our seminars such as "Playing it Safe" - Understanding equipment and how it relates to the safety of your child.
